Thank you very much to everyone who turned up to Clean for the Queen.
We had a really successful morning. About forty volunteers collected about 120 bin bags of rubbish from Mill Lane, Melksham Lane and Coombe Lane. It was a fantastic turnout and a huge amount of litter was cleared.
It was depressing to see how much rubbish had been thrown into the verges and hedgerows. At the same time, it was uplifting to see so many people willing to do something about it.
Thanks also to:
- The Friendship Club for the delicious cakes, which everyone enjoyed afterwards
- Anne for letting us use the scout hut and making teas and coffees
- Wiltshire Council for giving us litter pickers, gloves, vests and bags
The lanes look much better now. We will see how long they stay that way and make this a regular event if necessary.
Here are some pictures from the morning.
