132 bags of rubbish

Thank you to everyone who joined the Great British Spring Clean.  We had about 70 people, which was an amazing turnout.

We collected 132 bags, 9 tyres, 3 traffic cones, 1 door, a microwave, some shredded knickers and a ten pound note.

Thank you to the scouts  for letting us use their hut, making teas and providing so many volunteers.  Thanks also to the Friendship Club for the delicious cake, which we thoroughly enjoyed afterwards.

We are very grateful to McDonald’s for their support.  They donated 10 litter pickers and some bag holders.  They also sent 11 of their staff to join in with the litter picking, which was very generous. We asked Costa Coffee for help too, but they didn’t reply.  You may wish to reflect on that when thinking about your next beverage purchase.

Finally, thank you to Wiltshire Council, who lent us litter pickers and other equipment.  Their workers joined in the pick and took away all the rubbish.

It’s great to see so many of our community come together in what was a surprisingly enjoyable morning.

Here are some pictures from the day.
