Parish Council Co-options

We have two vacancies for parish councillors.  It’s a great opportunity to serve your community.

We will co-opt someone to fill the vacancy at our July meeting, which should be on 12 July.

If you want to apply to be a councillor, all you need to do is send the clerk an email or letter that:

  • confirms that you meet statutory requirements to be a councillor (you can find them here);
  • gives your reasons for wishing to be a member of the parish council; and
  • explains what skills, qualifications and community experience you feel you will bring to the council.

The deadline for applications is 4pm on Saturday 1 July.

You can see our co-option policy here.

Please contact any councillor if you would like to know more about what it’s like to be on the parish council.  You can also read this guide.

Annual Parish Meeting 14 March 2016

The annual parish meeting will take place on Monday 14 March 2016 at 7:00pm in the village hall.

You can find the agenda at http://goo.gl/6WBJtW.

The first part of the evening will be in traditional style with verbal reports from the council chairman, Wiltshire Council, the police and village organisations, followed by a time for refreshments. The second part of the evening will focus on us breaking into smaller groups for informal discussions and inviting your views on a variety of community topics, in preparations for our forthcoming village parish plan. The meeting will conclude with a plenary to summarise the main issues of concern and to explain how we will take things forward in a parish plan.

Please do come. Your views really matter to us! Please use this wonderful opportunity to say what you think and to help us as a council make Broughton Gifford an even better place to live than it is now.
