We have moved the May council meeting to 17 May 2017 from 10 May 2017 because most councillors couldn’t make the original date. If you were planning on coming to the May meeting, please make sure you come on the new date.
We have had nine nominations for the 11 seats on the parish council. All the nominees will therefore be elected unopposed and there will not be a ballot. We will co-opt people for the two vacant places in due course. The only elections on May 4th will therefore be for our Wiltshire councillor. Here is the that statement of persons nominated, Parish-uncontested-statement-of-persons-nominated-1543-2016-5-april-p35
We will be holding a defibrillator training session on Thursday 6 April at 7pm in the village hall. Julia Doel from the South West Ambulance Trust will be running the session. Hopefully, you won’t ever need to use one, but if you do, this session could make all the difference. Tea and biscuits will be provided.
The parish council elections are on 4 May 2017. All 11 seats are up for election. If you would like to stand, you need to complete the nomination forms and hand them in to Wiltshire Council by Tuesday 4 April. The Wilshire Association of Local Councils has published a guide to being a councillor, which you can read here. You can find the forms and further information at http://elections.wiltshire.gov.uk/Home/Division/2748. If 11 […]

Thank you to the scouts for letting us use their hut, making teas and providing so many volunteers. Thanks also to the Friendship Club for the delicious cake, […]

We have bought a snow plough, so that we can keep the village’s roads clear if it snows. Whilst Wiltshire Council will keep the main roads clear, we want to make sure we can get to them We got a grant for the full amount from Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE), so it didn’t cost the village a penny. There was some money left over, so we got a couple […]
We have planted some trees around The Common. We planted a London Plane tree to replace the one that we had to take down. We put it on the edge of The Common, near the baptist chapel. We also planted a field maple and an ornamental hawthorn. The hawthorn was planted in memory of David Pressey and was paid for by his family. We took advice on what trees to […]
We have installed some handrails at the steps leading up to the church entrance. Some residents were finding it difficult to go to church because they couldn’t get up the steps and they asked us to help. The school and The Old Parsonage care home also backed the idea and they all supported our application for a grant from Wiltshire Council. We got a grant of £390 from Wiltshire […]
